5.25.25 Joey & Rania

What an amazing wedding! Now, after 498 weddings, I thought I had seen everything. But this was certainly one of the best and largest that I've ever officiated. There was a whopping 32 people in the wedding party! Guests numbered over 250. It was at the exquisite Tudor House on the Portage Lakes in Akron.

The grounds are massive and gorgeous right on the lake. Dress was formal and no expense was spared. Fresh flower arrangements were everywhere including the deck where cocktails were served before and after the ceremony, around the ceremony arch and all the way down the aisle, and under the gigantic tent where the reception dinner was held.

Music was live with a very talented harpist and violinist.

Something I haven't seen before, was an artist standing with an easel at the back of the ceremony area. She filled in the setting before and while guests were being seated. She was working on the bride and groom during the service. I'm sorry to say that I did not see the finished product, but I'm sure it was wonderful.

All of this preparation and beautiful arrangements faded away once the bride and groom, Joey and Raina, walked down the aisle. They were both glowing with love and excitement. Her gown and train were magnificent, plus her bouquet was probably the largest I've ever seen. Joey looked very handsome with his groomsmen all in black tuxes, my favorite. And what a nice and kind couple.

They were thrilled with the ceremony and said that my calm demeanor really help them get through it. They wrote their own vows and they were loving, funny and tear jerking.

As I was leaving, I saw this magnificent car sitting in front of the mansion. I saw that it was a Packard. But I don't know what year. Apparently, this was there getaway car after an amazing wedding! Wishing them so much love and happiness in their new life together. What a wonderful afternoon!
